Parish Picnic
In August, Sacred Heart hosted a parish picnic which was a huge
success. The event included a live band, face-painting and
games for the kids, dinner, bingo and prizes.
Angle Tree
In 1993 Bernice Arienzo initiated
this wonderful Advent project here at Sacred Heart. She received
assistance from her family children, grandchildren and extended
family members who continue to help with this parish activity.
We estimate that over five thousand lives have been touched by
the generosity of the gifts contributed through the Angel Tree.
Initially the first grade children
of Sacred Heart School cut out the angels. In recent years the
CCD children have helped prepare the angels. Many other
individuals have helped in assembling the tree, sorting and
packing the gifts, loading them into vehicles and distributing
them to grateful recipients.
Over the years this project has
"blossomed" into a truly wonderful community event obtaining
support from Sacred Heart parishioners, neighborhood friends and
members of other local churches as well.
The true "Spirit of Christmas" is
through this special ministry of giving to those in need.
