Congratulations. The results from the stewardship initiative are
staggering. Before we started, we had 146 people involved in 223
ministries and committees. That’s an average of one-and-a-half
ministries per parishioner.
We now have 236 parishioners involved in 472 different ministries
and committees. This includes almost one hundred new volunteers
and the people already involved doing more. On average, a typical
parishioner is now involved in two ministries, up from the
one-and-a-half before we started this effort.
We have 35 ministries and most received new volunteers (see 2005
Ministries Totals chart for details). Of this 35, 13 are new
ministries and designed to meet the changing needs of our parish
and community.
The ministries that received the most new volunteers included
altar society, children’s group, altar flower arranging, greeters,
history group, lectors and the St. Vincent De Paul Society, ushers
and youth group.
In the coming weeks, we will be featuring individual ministries.
While we have many new volunteers, we still need more cantors, CCD
teachers (catechists), choir members, pastoral visitors (to see
the sick and shut-ins), resurrection choir members (singing for
funerals), men’s retreat participants (held in April), adult
servers (for funeral services) and some to coordinate adult
education and programming with other parishes.
We truly grateful for everyone’s help and willingness to
participate in these ministries. Everyone is working so hard to
make Sacred Heart better. Thank you.
